The Castre Museum is located in the Castre Tower, which was a part of the Cannes castle and was built by monks to protect the bay and the fort in the 11th century. A number of paintings from the 18th and 19th century are also on display, and many of these depict Cannes and Provence. On the top of the tower is a lookout point, which provides an excellent view of the Cannes bay. Guided tours are available.

La Malmaison
+ My Favorites
La Malmaison houses an extensive collection of artwork and other items. The building itself was once part of Le Grand Hotel, which was designed by architects Vianey and Blondel in 1863, and underwent numerous renovations, demolititions and re-buildings throughout the years. La Malmaison is all that remains today. On the first floor is the Cannes City Cultural Affairs Department. There is a garden level, and located here is an area for temporary art exhibits, and those featured usually focus on artist who have left their mark on modern or contemporary art. Exhibitions relating to cinema, as well as selections from the Museum of Cannes, are also displayed here.
